…ok, kind of…
As you may or may not know, I have been slumming it having a blast with my Bestie Whitney Cicero making YouTube videos. For about a year now, we’ve been making videos together under The New Stepford brand. It started a few months after I fell in love with Whitney as she stole the screen, acting in my first big short film. I was procrastinating editing the film and looked up Whitney’s blog. I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING. So I called her up. “Your blog is hilarious. How do you feel about me making some videos, starring you, that are based on your blog?” Many months and many videos later, Whitney moves to LA and becomes a star. Ok she moves to LA around the same time this woman calls her up. (Not me.) “We’d like your New Stepford videos to be part of our channel.” Your channel? As an old lady, I do not speak YouTube. I did not know what Awesomeness TV was (but my teen daughter did.) Turns out lots of teens do. And now they want lots of moms to know about their new channel Awestruck.
So bottom line, Whitney and I, aka The New Stepford, now officially make videos for Awestruck TV which is owned by DreamWorks (proof in this Variety article)– see I wasn’t totally lying. And if enough people watch them, we will actually get paid. I think we’ve made $100.75 so far. Woot!
